After Arkansas the next stop on our journey was Tennessee. Tennessee has lots of rivers and farm land as well. But passing the Martin Luther King Blvd was surreal. I actually saw the apartments where Martin Luther King Jr. was killed. It was as thought I was transported back into the 60's. The buildings are still the same as they were back them.

We soon came to the bridge that takes us to Memphis. On one side is the Pyramid and on the other side is the Welcome Center. Just ahead of the bridge is the City of Memphis. You could see its history from the architecture of the buildings, yet they are not old or dilapidated. It gives you the sense that you are in a historic city.
I visited the welcome center where there was a video playing of the music greats. BB King and Elvis Presley. In the foyer there were giant statues of BB King, who welcomed guest as they enter the center and in the foyer a statue of Elvis looks over the city.

I could hear in my spirit the past citizens of Memphis still playing their music. Their presences is overwhelming as they still have an attachment to that era of intrigue and fun. We had lunch in Memphis and then drove to Jackson where we spent the night. How does pizza sound for dinner. Dinner was good but the bed for the night was high like a mountain and just as hard, but when you are on the road you have the take the good with the bad.

We started out from our journey at 10 am the following morning and reached Nashville at about 2.00 pm. Nashville takes you into the mountains. We didn't do much in Nashville... we were pushing for
time. We got petrol and lunch to go. We drove most of the day and only took in the sites and the many hills along the way. Soon we came into Knoxville. I like Knoxville. Some homes are dotted within the hills which reminded me of a Lifetime Movie. It then dawned on me that shoot, This is a mountain we are driving through and Knoxville is actually on a mountain. It was exciting to say the least. It is a picturesque town. Not very big. It was a bit chilly too. We continued through the mountains going higher and higher. At one point we were actually in the clouds. The clouds look like we were passing through smoke. They were just drifting above us, and around us. At one point a small cloud was raining next to the truck. It was awesome. On either side of the mountain were ravines that I could only imagine were 100ft deep. The drive through the mountains was slow and controlled.
we came to the the last stop in Tennessee which is Bristol. This borders Tennessee and Virginia. Just beforee we entered Virginia a shower of white rain fell only for a few strong minutes. We decided to take it slow, driving at 20mph since the visibility was so bad. I can say this much it was as though we came through a rain tunnel because no sooner than entering the rain cloud we were on dry road again. When we looked back the rain was still falling. Did some one say time tunnel. Well we got petrol and stayed in the hotel for the night. Virgina will have to wait until tomorrow.
